Workshops

CAD Creation: We participated in a workshop with Engineering Tomorrow. In this workshop, we worked on CAD Development. CAD stands for Computer-Aided-Design, which allows users an aid in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design. We created designs of items commonly needed in households. Through this guided workshop we learned how CAD is used in different industries. Pictured to the left is a student’s Onshape creation.

App Development: We participated in a week-long workshop with Engineering Tomorrow, where we learned the basics of coding and created our own text-to-speech apps using the MIT app inventor. We used block code to complete this application and tested it on our own devices. During this workshop, we learned the aspects of front-end and back-end development and app terminology. This activity allowed us to gain an introduction to software development. The following are examples of the code behind the app we created and the user interface used.
